RTP 180: AgBio
June 18th, The Frontier
Did you know the agbio industry is one of the Triangle’s fastest growing sectors? More than just food production research, the life science sector reaches into everything from flu vaccines to beer. At this month’s RTP 180, we’ll be bringing you speakers that are working in different areas of the agbio universe. Come out and learn how this wide-reaching topic truly impacts our lives. Free Fitness Classes
Mondays & Wednesdays, The Frontier

Don’t miss out on this great opportunity! There are now free fitness classes for all twice a week at The Frontier through June 24! On Monday’s you can hit up a Cardio Class at 4:45pm and Wednesday’s there’s BYOM Yoga at 11:30am. See you then!

Wake County Transit Update in RTP
June 18th, The Frontier

Interested in learning how things are moving along with transit in Wake County? Come to this free flowing info session from 11:30am – 1:30pm to learn about where they are in the plan, and to provide feedback. Representatives from RTP and GoTriangle will be on hand to explain the four scenarios being presented.

Periodic Tables: Genetic Engineering, Gene Drives and Society w/Jennifer Kuzma

We can now genetically engineer mosquitoes so that they won’t transmit malaria or dengue. When introduced into the wild, they can work to decrease disease-carrying populations. Is this the future of disease control? Jennifer Kuzma will discuss the development of engineered strains of pests that are specifically designed to “drive” their genes into natural and human-modified environments.

Looking for Interns? Check out the DurhamYouthwork Program!
The Durham YouthWork Internship Program (DYIP) is working to match young people to internships in STEM related businesses. By helping youth explore STEM fields through internships, they hope to raise their interest in pursuing a STEM career. DYIP is looking to match businesses to youth between the ages of 14 and 21. Businesses can also sponsor an intern to be placed at another organization if they are not able to host the intern at their organization. Businesses and organizations interested in hiring youth for the summer and/or afterschool internships should contact Malinda Todd at (919) 560-4965, ext.15220 or by email at Malinda.Todd@DurhamNC.gov.

MSFITS 16th Annual Ice Cream Ride
