Moogfest
May 19-22, Downtown Durham
Moogfest a festival celebrating the intersection of technology, music and art. Daytime brings mind-bending speakers and panelist, with nighttime highlighting cutting edge musical acts across a variety of genres. Participants can purchase tickets for the entire festival experience, or check out the many free offerings. Corporate Teams Wanted for Komen Race for the Cure!
Susan G. Komen North Carolina to the Coast is hosting its 20th Triangle Race for the Cure on Saturday, June 11th at The Frontier in RTP. This year there will be a tailgate zone with lots of food trucks, beer tasting, corn hole and music, in addition to the 5k run/walk. Organizers are recruiting corporate teams from RTP. 2016 Stop Hunger Now Ag Biotech Collaboration

Want to join the movement to end world hunger? Are you interested in learning how agricultural biotechnology is leading food production on a more sustainable path? Join Stop Hunger Now to prepare and package meals for food-insecure regions. Volunteers will spend 2 hours packing as many meals as possible, using a funnel, a few ingredients, and fast (but accurate) teamwork. After the event, volunteers will have the chance to learn more about how agricultural biotechnology is changing the world by networking with industry professionals.

Stewards of Children Sexual Abuse Prevention Training

Triangle Ultimate and The Research Triangle Foundation are partnering to offer a free community training on child sexual abuse prevention, presented by Darkness to Light and The YMCA of The Triangle. This training is open to the public, and it is recommended for anyone working in a youth-serving organization as well as any individuals concerned about the safety of children. Donations are encouraged and directly support the Darkness to Light program. Girls Make Games is coming back to RTHS this summer!

GMG’s flagship three week camp helps girls ages 8-15 take a creative concept and turn it into a fully functional prototype. Not only do campers have a finished product at the end of the three weeks, they also compete nationally for the top prize, a chance to have their video game developed and published by LearnDistrict, the educational company behind GMG.

Starting and Financing a Venture in North Carolina

To kickoff Moogfest, RTP’s president and CEO, Bob Geolas, will be participating in a free community panel centered on these issues. His fellow panelist all have varied backgrounds in the issues of city planning and urban issues, and the discussion will focus on both local and national trends.

Western Wake Woman’s Club Annual Fundraiser & Silent Auction Benefiting Meg’s Smile

This annual fundraiser supports Meg’s Smile, a local charitable organization that provides gifts and experiences to children affected by serious illnesses. The event will include wine, beer, heavy appetizers, and a silent auction filled with donations from local businesses and sponsors such as tickets to local sporting events; sports memorabilia; jewelry; hotel, restaurant, and spa gift certificates; local outdoor activities; and many other services and goods featuring local businesses.
